Yoga of the Crocus
Hello friends!
We shifted into Spring last week and we'll be turning the calendar page to April this week. Change is in the air!
Even though it is still quite cold and windy, there is an unmistakable shift happening. Our days are longer. Just outside my front door, I can see the green shoots of crocuses pushing through the soil. There are buds on the trees in the park.
None of this change happens with fanfare, it is simply the steady march of time and the inevitable changing of the seasons. Chances are good that there will be snow on the ground at least once again in the next few weeks. The plants will keep getting stronger though. And one day soon, those little flowers will bloom again, having been nurtured throughout the winter by the soil and melted snow.
And the cycle starts all over again.
Yoga serves us in much the same way. Our commitment to mindful movement and breath nurtures us deep within. Slowly, we notice small changes beginning to happen. There are always setbacks. There is no big reveal - no 'ta-da!' - but growth is happening.
We are working to steady the fluctuations of the mind. We are trying to smooth out the stressors of fear and anxiety and to move forward with fluid grace and calm.
It's the yoga of the crocus.
Please join me this week. Our practice will focus on to feeling grounded, fluid, and rejuvenated - drawing energy from the earth to support our movements.
Love & yoga,
Nina G
