Why We Practice
Hello friends,
During the past few weeks our yoga classes have focused on our flexibility. It has been a very embodied practice, focusing on the freedom and restriction that we experience as we explore the movement of our joints.
When we practiced yoga last week, we thanked ourselves for our continued commitment to our practice. Because we keep coming back to our mat (or chair!), we have improved our flexibility, our agility, our balance, and our strength.
But that's not all that our practice can do.
Yoga is made for times like these - times of uncertainty, times of great upheaval, times of significant change.
Our regular yoga practice can help us to even out our responses to the overwhelm. It can calm anxiety and steady the nervous system. Yoga can help to build our resilience. Yoga can help us regain our equilibrium even when it feels as if the world is crumbling around us.
So here's what we will do in the midst of all the chaos. We'll take one breath at a time. We'll take one small step at a time. We'll gather our internal resources and prepare ourselves for another day. Despite the uncertainty that surrounds us, we will navigate the current climate with resilient minds and able bodies.
This is why we practice.
Join me. Let's face the challenges together.
Love & yoga,
Nina G
