Finding ‘Moon Joy’ on Earth

Hi friends!

I mentioned the term moon joy in my newsletter last week. It's a term that NASA and the Artemis II astronauts used as they were exploring an orbit far beyond the moon. Their excitement at what they experienced was so contagious that we focused on that same sense of joy in our yoga practice.

There's no question, moon joy is infectious!

But we don't have to slingshot around the moon to tap into those feelings. Yes, we can experience awe (or moon joy) through the eyes of explorers and astronauts, and we can also cultivate it right here on earth. A spaceship isn't necessary! We can tune into the beauty around us - the dew on the morning grass, the first light of sunrise, the incredible fragrance of spring lilacs - whatever it is that moves you.

And when we shift into that mindful and observant place, we are changed.

Awe reminds us that we are small, vital pieces of something much greater than ourselves. Awe connects us to that which is more profound.

Awe is vast and it is humbling.

Awe transforms us. Just as those astronauts felt a shift in perspective while in orbit, we can experience that same shift right here on the earth.

Let's explore awe in our practice this week.

Love & awe,

Nina G
